Holiday Steals: Using social media and the Internet for holiday gift buying

If you are like most of the population, you probably have a long gift list to buy during the holidays. Keep in mind that the Internet is an excellent resource for gift buying and deals. Here are some tips to buy an affordable gift online this season.
What’s on the list?
Online wish lists (like Amazon.com has) are a great place to round up the items you want from around the Web. Encourage your friends and family to make one, as it will be easier to get them what they really want.
LIKE! AND FOLLOW!
To find great deals, utilize social media. By liking and following companies’ social pages, you can keep up with the daily deals, then buy when the deal best suits you. Some retailers even offer promotions if you “Like” their page. Companies constantly post about which of their products make great gifts, such as Nordstrom. This is a perfect way to find gift ideas for someone without a list.
Comparison shop
When shopping for gifts not specific to one retailer (i.e.: books, scarves, shoes), open a few tabs and check out more than one website. Some sites may offer free shipping or better discounts. Compare the deals. Find your best outlet. Also be aware of websites that offer free promotion codes for your favorite retailers, like retailmenot.com.
Don’t procrastinate. Keep in mind, no one wants the last-minute gift card you bought because of the fuel perks. Be thoughtful. ‘Tis the season of giving!
