Today, having a strategic, content-centric social media presence isn’t just best practice—it’s an absolute necessity. Brands are spending billions on campaigns that have produced some of the most creative and influential marketing being consumed today.
This is the first in a series to explore some of the brands who are absolutely nailing this whole social media thing by channel:
Still operating as the foremost social media giant today, Facebook is the first place many brands turn for content marketing. Specific campaigns seen in the past year such as the #LikeAGirl campaign from Always and the ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge started conversations that went far beyond the social stratosphere and, in turn, brought awareness to important issues.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but video is kind of a big deal. And with its recent integration of video autoplay to the timeline view, Facebook tends to agree. One brand whose Facebook videos are getting a lot of love is bourbon whiskey distillery Woodford Reserve. Its video ads don’t feel like ads, but they certainly make me want to pour a glass on the rocks. The rest of Woodford’s Facebook page is filled with great recipes and photos that celebrate the culture of bourbon.
Although I don’t technically have a dog, I tend to fall in love with every dog I meet. It’s a problem. BarkBox, a monthly dog goodie subscription service, knows how to leverage love of adorable pups into incredibly engaging content on Facebook. BarkBox shines with original video content, but uses the majority of its Facebook content to send the user to its blog platform, BarkPost. This cross-platform approach allows it to share long-form content and spend more time engaging with the audience.
